The 76 Club
A Musical Heritage
SEAN WEBSTER at The 76 Club (Peel Croft)
Sean Webster is an inspiring guitar vocalist with a great reputation on the British blues and rock scene. The band has seen members come and go since its creation back in 2003 however Sean's focus has stayed the same and he continues to do what he does best......write music.
2004 was a big year for Sean, as he released the debut album “Long Time Coming”. This put Sean in line for his first recording contract, and showcased his fine guitar playing, which combines a great number of influences including Albert Collins, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore and SRV to name a few. His vocal style is of a rich, sexy tone with a low end rumble drawing comparisons with Joe Cocker, Bryan Adams and Jonny Lang.
Britain’s leading blues magazine “Blues Matters!” has described the debut album as “A real gem”, concluding that Sean was:
“…. set for big stages with superb guitar work…. They'll soon be bursting out of the Nottingham area now Sean has got his writing shoes on.”
2005 saw the band perform many live dates around the U.K. including main stage performances at, Burnley Festival, Maryport Festival the prestigious Great British R&B Festival in Colne in August with organisers quoting, “Sean is a new legend in the making. He has rich powerful vocals and searing guitar licks. Like so many, he has been working hard for years but these are Sean Webster’s years, and he is in his ascendancy.”
Sean's second cd release entitled, “If Only” pushed the boundaries of the blues music, with Sean reaching out to a wider and (often) younger audience. “If Only” came to the attention of Tony Edser, editor of “Where's Eric!” the official Eric Clapton magazine who decided to feature Sean as The “One to watch”. Having personally placed a copy of the cd in Eric's hands, it was rumoured that Sean was inline for supporting Eric on that years tour. Unfortunately Sean was pipped at the post by the legendary Robert Cray!!!
An extract reads,
“This is an original collection of blues based songs, skilfully played, nicely produced and with some beautifully melodic guitar work. If Eric is stuck for a decent support act for his forth coming Euro tour, he need look no more.”
Since then Sean has played tours in the USA and Europe; Performed live sessions on the radio 2 Paul Jones show; Performed on national Fox TV in the USA; released 2 more albums ( one a double ) and also a cd single.
If you haven't seen him for awhile its maybe because for the last year he has lived in Australia, however he continued to write material whilst away and over the coming months you can hear some of this live at his shows.

The 76 Club Rock Nights are proud to announce our first gig at our new home, Burton Rugby Club.
Sean is a major talent. He’s flying in from his home in Holland especially for this gig. Sean is not only a stunning guitarist but has a wonderful soulful voice, reminiscent of Joe Cocker.
Sean has been playing in Australia for the last 12 months but is now concentrating on a UK tour with the other 3 members of his band.
We are very lucky to get somebody of Sean ’s calibre here in Burton. A night not to be missed. The entry price will be £10 on the door which will open at 8 o’clock.
